I want to know what i should learn to speak the language. I am taking a class in school to learn german but i want to learn more. How can i be able to speak it better?

danke =D

Hallo :D

nice that you are learning German.

Here are some tips to learn German:

Some courses that come to mind:
Pimsleur German
Assimil German
Rosetta Stone German (not a big fan of it but some seem to like it)

Passive Learning tips:
- look around on IMDB for good rated German movies, get them with English subtitles.
- In Germany they synchronize everything on TV, you could even get American movies spoken in German (although i admits i find it highly annoying)

I wish you all the best in learning the German language

How can I learn German with a busy schedule?

November 15, 2008 by Admin - LearnGermanLanguage.org · 7 Comments

I always have lots of schoolwork to do and rarely anytime for leisure, but I want to learn to speak, read, and write German (I plan to move to Germany in a couple of years).

A good book is "German in 10 minutes a day".
It's a good book to learn the basics and it's structured for a busy person.
My friend used this book when he was first learning German. It must have worked for him, because when I visited him in Heidelberg, he was very comfortable with the language.

Eventually, you will need to listen to tapes/Cd's to become familiar with the language. Check your local schools for conversational German classes.

I you know anyone who speaks the language, spend time with them and speak German.

Can you take a German class at your school, for credit toward your degree?

Good luck.

What is the best book for beginning to learn German?

November 11, 2008 by Admin - LearnGermanLanguage.org · 3 Comments

What is the best book for beginning to learn German? I would really like to learn German. Rosetta stone is too expensive, and I need a book, because I don’t have any fluent German speakers accessible to me. Please recommend a good book for beginning German that isn’t massively expensive.
Is that in reference to the teach yourself Beginners German or teach yourself German?

I could recommend teach yourself simply and easily, you can read the book review here. Aside from Rosetta Stone german there are other German Language Courses that might suit your budget. Try out our free course for instance (sign up on the right)

Best regards

I have checked the Rosetta Stone software and that is over $200. I was wondering if any one knows of any kind of software/books that you can learn German from for under $100.

http://www.fsi-language-courses.com/default.aspx

That's the FSI language courses from the '60s. It's got a good German course and it's free! :)
The downside is that it's somewhat boring and just focuses on grammar drills and such. Also, some of the words are a little dated.

http://www.assimil.com/

That's a company's site that makes really good books to learn languages. There's a german course in English, and if you speak French there are several courses. You can buy the books + CDs on amazon for pretty cheap and they're great.

What's the best way for me to learn German this summer?

I have 4 months and $5000 to learn as much German as I can. I currently only have 2 semesters of college-level German classes completed, so my German skills are pretty weak. How do I get better quickly?

Go to Germany. There are great schools that give you intensive lessons and also an accommodation.
I´ve learned in Frankfurt, Goethe Institute, very expensive. And i did not learned a lot. But anyhow a certificate from this school is accepted everywhere.
Darmstadt, Studio Mondiale, cheaper, nice, Learned a lot..!! The personal intensive courses are at good price and it is a great way to learn. Darmstadt is a very nice city, full of students. Annete a great teacher.
Dusseldorf, Sprach forum Heinrich Heine, great! I learned everything there. I passed the DSH test to enter any German University (not everyone passes the exam on the first time). The prices are great. Dusseldorf is very nice and you meet a lot of people there…
I recommend that you go to Germany and stay there for more than a month. Live with German people when possible. A family or young people. That is the only way to lear and practice…!! Good luck. Here are the web pages.

Any German speakers want to help me learn German?

November 3, 2008 by Admin - LearnGermanLanguage.org · 5 Comments

I'm a linguistics student in the US, and I've started out trying to learn German. Right now, I'm using 'l'allemand sans peine' and FSI German courses. I'd really like to speak with actual German speakers though, as it's different than learning from a book and audio.

Du koenntest auch in einen deutschen Chatraum gehen und dort mit anderen Deutschen chatten. Das hilft Dir dann auch weiter. Viel Spass beim lernen. Gruss Priscilla

What is the easiest/Fastest way to learn German?

I am going to germany in 3 years with a friend and know only a little German. Should I continue learning the language or wait a couple years and just go the Germany?

I think you should continue learning the language. Three years is a long time – what you could learn in that amount of time would really help with getting around the country and maybe even having conversations… Even after three years of study there will still be alot you can learn and improve on such as your accent. Even though many Germans speak English, most (I've heard) will be appreciative of your attempts to learn their language.
Living there will make the biggest difference – if you make sure to go and involve yourself with locals. My family hosted an exchange student thirteen years ago and when he came to the US he knew very little English (like "yes" and "no"). But he was very social and became involved alot at school and after a year the advancements he made were amazing!
Hope this helps & best of luck!!
